The Next Generation of Personal Telehealth

Continua Health Alliance - The Next Generation of Personal Telehealth - is a non-profit, open industry alliance of leading healthcare and technology companies in the world joining together in collaboration to improve the quality of personal healthcare. The mission is to establish an eco-system of interoperable personal health systems that empower people & organizations to better manage their health and wellness.

First Public Interoperability Demonstration was arranged at the Harvard Medical Amphitheater October 27, 2008. After two years of work from more than 175 companies around the world, Continua Health Alliance has announced the formal release of its Version One Design Guidelines and the Continua Certification Program. These guidelines encompass connectivity for vital sign devices (pulse oximeter, blood pressure cuff, thermometer, weight scale, glucose meter), cardiovascular fitness equipment and independent living activity monitors.

The Market Potential
According to World Health Organization , WHO and McKinsey worldwide 1 billion adults have overweight, 860 million chronic disease patients, 600 million elders age 60 or older, 75-85% of healthcare spending is on chronic disease management.
